How TMG’s Contactless Delivery Solutions Transform Organizations Nationwide

Organizations across the country are turning to TMG for solutions that use mail and parcel Intelligent Delivery Lockers, also known as Smart Lockers for a safer, faster, more reliable and convenient way to deliver packages to clients.  Smart Lockers, which combine a physical, multi-compartment storage locker and advanced software, give clients the ability to pick up and place mail and parcels without any face-to-face interaction and higher efficiency.

TMG successfully designed and implemented an end-to-end mail and parcel services solution consisting of a dedicated team of service professionals, delivery vehicles and advanced receiving and chain of custody technology integrated with our smart lockers. Today, The Brooklyn Navy Yard averages over 83,000 packages annually, with 13 various sized TMG smart locker banks within 13 buildings that total 654 lockers supporting nearly 10,000 visitors.

Strategic Issue:

The Brooklyn Navy Yard faced serval challenges, including: backlog of a substantial volume of packages to be sorted and delivered right from day one, same-day delivery of every piece of mail (some with high-value checks), and packages across the campus, manage costs with minimum staff and maximize efficiency, and the potential for multiple missing packages.

TMG Solution:

TMG positioned its Smart Lockers on-site, providing an intuitive and user-friendly solution to package collection.

How it works:

• Packages arrive at a central receiving area

• Packages are then sorted and receive a unique system barcode

• Packages are delivered to a central bank of lockers located on the client site

• Packages are scanned and placed into an individual Smart Locker and the locker is locked

• An email or text message is automatically generated to the customer, notifying them they have a package. This notification also contains a unique one-time use access code and the locker number containing their package.

• At their convenience, the client arrives at the lockers and enters their unique access code, accessing the locker and retrieving their package

TMG provides The Brooklyn Navy Yard a customized, yet simple and customizable workflow. Our services include full accountability and transparency to the Navy Yard management with dashboards and Business Intelligence.  It also provides a full chain of custody for 99.99% of packages. With our Smart Lockers, once a package is scanned and placed into the Intelligent Locker, recipients are immediately notified that they have a package waiting for them via email or text message. This automated process reduces the amount of time a package spends in TMG’s Navy Yard mail center and decreases the number of times the package changes hands — resulting in a shorter, more accurate chain of custody.

Outcome:

Our Smart Lockers have caught on quickly, with feedback almost unanimously positive. TMG users have mentioned that the lockers are highly intuitive and user-friendly, with many other companies looking to implement the same solution.  TMG Smart Lockers have been the first step to addressing the organization’s support for a progressive and efficient way to manage parcel delivery.
